The new year is full of reflection and restarts. Many people begin resolutions in hopes of having a positive and proactive year ahead of them. Companies should also take this time to focus on goals for the upcoming year. With 2021 just beginning, it is the perfect time to reflect on the progress we have made at K12 that carried us through a tumultuous 2020. We would be remiss to start an annual reflection without highlighting the integral part Remote Learning has been in shaping K12 360°, Innive’s suite of interactive dashboards. It was an honor to be a part of the transformation of the education industry as we faced the universal challenge of teaching from a distance. With determination, a passionate team, and the goal of closing the digital divide, we have been able to support school districts by providing a range of tools and analytics services. With Covid-19 putting schools into upheaval, we’ve been able to assist districts in their transition from in-person, to remote, and hybrid models. We achieved this by creating user-friendly, intuitive data visualizations and dashboards for teachers, principals, and district leaders to make educated, data-based decisions. We’re proud to have been a part of providing better learning outcomes and experiences for everyone.
With projects like the Remote Learning Management System, we were honored to partner up with inspiring companies. One of our favorites: Project Unicorn, a non-profit dedicated to helping schools achieve data interoperability (If you’re not sure what that is, check out this handy crash course). Project Unicorn aligns with our goal of connecting and using data to help students and teachers thrive, so we were delighted to sign the pledge:
Project Unicorn Vendor Pledge:"Pledge your commitment to increase secure access, privacy, and interoperability in your products and empower customers, educators and families to achieve an enhanced level of engagement in their students’ education to improve the impact of educational data and to inform teaching and learning practices for stronger student outcomes.”
This year, we had our very own John Parker, VP of Data Science and Research at Innive join the Project Unicorn Technical Advisory committee.
“2020 was a tough year for schools, students, teachers, and families. Even though it was painful, I think we learned valuable lessons on how to use data, digital content, and remote learning methods that will help us accelerate student learning growth in the future.” - John Parker, VP of Data Science and Research
John’s experience in the education industry makes him the perfect candidate to help schools meet the demand for interoperability. We have also been honored with another amazing partner opportunity by having the Executive VP of Education at Innive, Shahryar Khazei, be elected to join the 2021 CoSN Board of Directors. CoSN has always been a trusted source and partner for us in the education sector. Along with joining the board, we also have been honored to join CoSN to dedicate time to a relevant study investigating the effects of home connectivity on the digital divide.
“Looking back at 2020, we look back solemnly at the losses of the past year, but it offers us a unique moment of reflection to contemplate the place tech has in connecting us. We are grateful for the opportunity to play a positive role in the education movement to support students and teachers during such trying times. There has never been a time in history where technology has played such an integral role in inspiring connection and learning, and we are humbled to be here for it."- Shahryar Khazei, Executive VP, Education, Innive
Last year we were fortunate to have our customer numbers grow. As this happened, we saw a need for additional support. We took the year to create a useful tool to assist with our solutions—our new self-service K12 360° Support Knowledge Base. This is a resource for dashboard users to quickly learn about dashboard data and functionality. The Knowledge Base supports the use of K12 360° dashboards by providing a central location for all information: FAQs, glossary terms, quick start guides, videos, best practices, application support articles, and more.
Ed Fi Alliance honored us and Google cloud with a Community award at the end of 2020. This partnership between Innive and Google Cloud and their contribution to migrating Ed-Fi technology to support .NET Core and Docker has been an integral step in achieving interoperability in education.
Reflections on 2020
This year has been challenging, a history-making and learning experience for everyone. But as we look back, we reflect in a positive way knowing that we’ve benefitted from the journey that was 2020 and look forward to taking our new outlook and knowledge for a better 2021. Stay tuned for our next blog to see what we have in store for 2021.
