Our panel of experts take a look at how the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD)—a district in California with over 54,000 students—navigated the challenges of adapting to this new learning model. About Our Presenters: Melissa Dodd serves as the Chief Technology Officer for SFUSD. Ms. Dodd is charged with leading the district's technology vision and digital district plan. This includes Building a Digital District, which articulates the district’s strategy to transform learning with technology, infusing technology into teaching, learning, and operations to realize the goals of Vision 2025 and the SFUSD graduate profile for college and career readiness in the 21st century. Melissa has a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has worked at Tufts and Harvard Universities managing academic programs and designing online communities of practice. Melissa has presented nationally on the role of technology in education and published on the use of digital simulations to teach problem-solving in the social sciences.

Shahryar Khazei serves as the Executive VP for Innive Inc. Shahryar is charged with leading Innive’s K12 vertical - technology solutions dedicated to helping educators harness the power of data. Shahryar has extensive experience working in school districts, with over 30 years spent working at Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). His career has spanned four district divisions, providing him with a solid foundation in both business and public sector operations and the nuances of the educational environment. As Chief Information Officer of LAUSD, Mr. Khazei oversaw one of the nation’s largest and most complex computing environments – spanning over 720 square miles and 1,100 disparate school sites and offices and serving over one million users.

John Parker is a seasoned expert in IT strategy, requirements management, business analysis, project management, IT strategic planning, and IT value management. His experience and knowledge span decades, stemming from leadership roles as CIO and Strategy Consultant for Hospital Sisters Health System; Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for the national consulting firm MAXIMUS; Founder, Partner, and Executive Vice President of Spectrum Consulting Group; and Partner at KPMG. As Founder and CEO of Enfocus Solutions Inc., John leads the design and development of Enfocus Requirements Suite’s valuable mind maps, templates, examples, and tools. John graduated cum laude from Baylor University, is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Systems Professional and holds a Certificate of Mastery in Process Reengineering.
